The Brief
LinkIt! wanted an HTML5 arcade-style game with an educational layer built in, designed to publish on both iOS and the web from a single build rather than maintaining two separate versions for the same content.
Our Approach
We built Rocket Blast in Construct 3, using spritesheet-based frame animation to get the colourful, arcade-style movement the brief called for without the overhead of a full 3D engine, appropriate for a browser and mobile-web game rather than a native 3D title. Educational games for younger players live or die on whether the game part stays fun once the learning part is added, so the arcade mechanics came first and the educational content was built around them.
That meant keeping the feedback loop short: quick input response, readable sprites, and a pace that made the educational layer feel like part of play. Construct 3 let us keep one HTML5 codebase while still targeting the practical environments LinkIt! cared about, including iOS and web browsers.
The Outcome
Rocket Blast shipped as a single HTML5 build playable on iOS and in web browsers, giving LinkIt! one codebase to maintain across both. It's part of the kind of eLearning content work we do for publishers who need a game that holds a child's attention long enough for the educational content to land.
