Instructional Design

Instructional Design

SCORM-compliant training and educational simulations, integrated with the LMS you already run.

XGameDev supports education providers, training teams, and organisations that need interactive learning products rather than static course material alone.

We combine instructional design thinking with Unity, web, LMS, and backend development so learning products can be practical, measurable, and maintainable after launch.

Interactive learning and training technology

We help teams plan and build digital learning systems such as serious games, 3D training simulations, SCORM packages, H5P activities, custom LMS features, and web-based learning tools.

Our work is strongest when the training needs interaction, decision-making, simulation, data capture, or integration with an existing learning platform.

Our expertise

  • Unity for 3D training and simulation products
  • HTML5 and H5P for interactive learning activities
  • SCORM packages for Moodle and other LMS platforms
  • xAPI and LRS integration for learning analytics
  • LTI workflows for LMS-to-LMS content sharing
  • Prototype development, QA, deployment, and support

Our approach

We start by clarifying the learning objective, audience, platform constraints, and success criteria. From there, we can help shape the interaction model, prototype the experience, and build the production version with the right mix of Unity, web, and LMS technology.

Where useful, we use storyboards, prototypes, or technical spikes to validate the experience before a full build. This keeps the learning design connected to the actual implementation, which is where many training projects can lose quality.

Why work with XGameDev?

We understand both the learning goals and the engineering work required to ship interactive training software. That makes us a practical partner for teams that need more than a slide deck, but do not want a fragile one-off prototype.

Interactive learning we have built

For Real Body Work's anatomy application, we built a Construct 2 skeletal-system quiz using the client's anatomical assets, with CMS integration and SCORM progress reporting. Step Out Academy brings learning activities into outdoor locations through mobile apps and AR. Hubub demonstrates the software behind a multiplayer virtual campus.

Our role is strongest in interactive learning design and implementation. Your subject specialists supply or approve the teaching content, correct answers and assessment criteria. We turn those requirements into an interaction that can be tested with learners and integrated into the required platform.

What does LMS integration include?

Name the LMS and version, the reporting standard, completion rules, scoring rules and resume behaviour. We test the package in your target environment, including failed or interrupted sessions. SCORM, xAPI and LTI address different needs; we select the integration against the actual requirement rather than promising compatibility with every LMS.

For scenario-based work, see training simulations.

Commissioning a learning game

If the deliverable is a complete playable learning activity, see serious and educational game development. Our serious games versus gamification guide helps distinguish a new game from adding mechanics to an existing learning product.
