Custom Application Development

Custom applications for learning, fitness, construction and interactive 3D. Work directly with the developers building your app and the systems around it.

Application engineering in practice

Step Out Academy combines an iOS and Android learning app with AR, QR journeys, a Node.js API and live group sessions. Our case study explains the mobile, content and backend work.

Software built around the task

XGameDev develops custom applications for organisations with a specific product or workflow to deliver. Our work includes mobile learning experiences, fitness apps, construction model viewers and connected 3D environments. We are based in Queensland, Australia, and work with clients internationally.

You work directly with Jacques and Melanie Leemans. We can build an agreed application scope, develop a subsystem alongside your team, or improve an existing product. The first conversation is about the people using the software, what they need to do and the systems it has to connect to.

Choose the application you need

For location-based learning and heritage experiences, our AR development service covers mobile cameras, maps, QR entry and 3D content. Games have their own development service, including mobile, desktop and browser projects.

The application and its supporting systems

The visible app is one part of a connected product. It may also need accounts, an API, a content library, data storage, administration tools or a connection to your existing systems. We scope those parts together so the client application and its backend agree on how information moves and who can change it.

NoMeLoMe illustrates this work: XGameDev developed a Unity content-delivery application and supporting systems for animated books, puzzles, music and video. On V2E, we built the Unity model viewer and SketchUp export plugin, plus the initial full-stack prototype; another team built the production Angular application. Each case study explains our contribution.

Our backend and full-stack services cover application infrastructure. We can also work against an API maintained by your own team.

Decide the platform through a working example

The right delivery route depends on the interaction, devices and operating environment. Unity suits much of our interactive 3D and cross-platform work; HTML5 can suit lighter browser activities. We review technical fit before committing to an implementation.

For an unfamiliar dataset or a demanding interaction, a useful first milestone is a small working build. It can test model loading on a tablet, an activity on a phone, or communication with an existing API. Agreeing that test early gives the next estimate a firmer basis.

Delivery and support

We agree the initial scope, responsibilities and acceptance checks with you. Development can then proceed through reviewable milestones, with builds tested on the agreed devices and environments. Release preparation includes the relevant build configuration, account access and handover documentation.

An existing product can start with a technical review of the codebase and current faults. Ongoing app maintenance covers updates and support after release; build automation helps teams producing frequent releases.

Bring us the workflow

Describe who will use the application, the task it needs to support, target devices and any existing software or data. Include a timeline and budget range if known. A short description or representative sample is enough to begin discussing the scope.

Questions about your project

Can you work on an existing application?

Yes. We can review the codebase, investigate a fault or develop a defined feature alongside your team. Share the current technology and the part of the product that needs attention.

Which platforms can you target?

Our project work includes iOS, Android, Windows, macOS and browser applications. We agree the target devices and review technical fit before selecting an implementation.

Do you work with clients outside Australia?

Yes. We work with clients internationally from Queensland, Australia. We agree communication, access and review arrangements around the project and your team.

Discuss your application

Send a short brief with your audience, target devices and the help you need. Jacques or Melanie will reply within one business day.
