The Brief

FabTouch wanted a custom belt browser for a Windows touch POS terminal in 2011. The app would sit inside a store, close to the sales counter, where customers could browse the belt range while staff talked through materials, sizes, pricing, and availability.

That setting changed the UI priorities. The app needed to feel more like a product presentation screen than an inventory tool, with large touch areas, clear product photography, readable details, and a layout that worked at arm's length.

Our Approach

We built the application in WPF with C# and XAML. The main interaction was a vertical product selector running from top to bottom, so the belt range stayed visible while the active product changed in the main view.

Selecting a belt updated the product detail panel in place: name, material, price, description, size options, and an order action. The selected belt stayed visually dominant, while the rest of the catalogue remained close enough for quick browsing during a sales conversation.

Touch POS screens punish tiny controls, so the interaction model used larger hit areas and simple state changes. The app needed enough feedback for each tap to feel deliberate, without turning the sales tool into a kiosk game.

The Outcome

The finished WPF application gave FabTouch a focused in-store sales tool for its belt range. Staff could present products on a Windows touch POS, move through the collection quickly, and bring up belt details and pricing in a format suited to a retail counter.

It was a practical desktop build with a retail face: restrained, direct, and built around the product.
